New Video Teaching Tool Launched by Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office

“O.C.R.R.A.A. online academy helps public learn to be mapping experts” “Some folks may not like the vegetable OKRA, but the Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office is creating some OCRRAA for those interested in Oklahoma County real estate may really like,” said Oklahoma County Assessor Larry Stein.

Today the Assessor’s Office launched a new teaching tool to help residents learn how to use mapping data features on the Assessor’s award-winning website. The Oklahoma County Residents and Realtors Assessor Academy (O.C.R.R.A.A.) – pronounced OKRA -- is streaming on Facebook and Oklahoma County’s YouTube channel.

“This is an exciting feature for our residents, realtors and anyone who wants to learn how to use the public data available on our web site. Each year about 26-million people visit our webpage and we always get questions on how to access or download this information. With O.C.R.R.A.A. everyone can learn how to use the information online without ever having to leave their homes in their pajamas---or anywhere worldwide---24 hours a day, 7 days a week, free on the internet,” Stein said. “There are amazing prices for housing---a boom particularly in residential properties---in Oklahoma County. The pandemic helped us realize a lot of folks were learning from home and hungry for information. With technology we can show people the great features we offer in a way that only our ‘Super-Users’ and experts knew how to use in the past. Now anyone can learn to use our website just like the experts just by streaming these short, but information-packed videos,” Stein said.

The First lesson involves how to find properties and make an excel list. You can create a list of neighbors, or mail-merge list to organize a neighborhood association. Another lesson explains how personal property and electric vehicle charging stations work. There are only a few lessons online currently, but more videos are in production. Residents are encouraged to submit their ideas by calling 405.713.1201 or contacting us at the Assessor’s webpage and providing ideas there, or you can text Stein at 405.361.9307.

“We’re planning to work on some historical lessons about the county and surrounding area you may not know about that will be fun and entertaining. We’re excited about these informational lessons and we hope those visiting the webpage will enjoy them as well,” Stein said.
