First, we are very sorry about any losses to our friends and neighbors during the fires from the middle of March. We will do all we can to help everyone who was impacted by these horrific fires.
To assist the citizens affected by the March fires, we have planned removal of fire debris in the affected areas. District 3 will be removing any fire debris that is placed in the road Right-of-Way (R/W). Commissioner Davidson’s team will be working between April 21st and May 2nd to remove these materials. Please place these materials just behind our bar-ditches so as not to impede water flow. We cannot pick up any new building materials, only debris from the fires and it must be placed in the R/W before those dates. The attached map shows the areas where my team at District 3 will be working. If you have materials in areas not shown, please report it to (405) 713-2180.
With all the bad weather behind us, District 3 is preparing for a busy paving season. Here are some updates on our projects.
The Penn overlay between Covell and Coffee Creek has been completed with Kevlar asphalt. The Danforth overlay in Arcadia between Westminster and Division was also completed with Kevlar asphalt. Currently we are working on a joint project with Edmond on Midwest Blvd. between Covell and Coffee Creek. We are completing the sidewalk project in Luther that connects the high school with the elementary school. The bridge project on 178th (Edmond Road) between Council and Rockwell is complete and the bridge on Coffee Creek between Portland and May is open with only some ditch work and sodding remaining. Currently, the extension of Henny Road between 164th and 178th is on hold waiting for some right of way decisions to be completed. We had various patching and repair projects in subdivisions in process during the colder weather. Our current plans include working on Sorghum Mill from Hiawassee to Henny on the western half of the road, Midwest from Danforth to Covell and a large tin-horn replacement on Waterloo between Douglas and Post. We are also working with Logan County to rebuild Waterloo between Midwest and Douglas.
One more item of interest is that we have located various cameras around critical areas of the county to monitor intersections, bridges, flood prone areas and construction projects. Pictures from these cameras can be accessed on the District 3 project map located on our website.
Our team is very busy working for our Oklahoma County residents, and we thank everyone for their patience as we try to improve the roads we travel. For more information, you can contact District D3 at (405) 713-2180.
