VICKI ZEMP BEHENNA DISTRICT ATTORNEY
MYKEL FRY FIRST ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELASE April 25, 2025
OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma County jury finds Mario Mason, 26, guilty of the May 21, 2024, murder of Randy Mills announced Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna. A dispute about a stolen vehicle led to Mills’ homicide.
Oklahoma City police were called to the 7300 block of NW 10th Street where they located Mills in the street deceased. During the investigation, detectives learned that Mills, 36, had sold Mason a stolen car in March 2024. Mills went to rehab in March and two days after his release in May 2024, the shooting occurred.
A witness told police Mason accused Mills of selling him a stolen car and stated he wanted his money back. Mason produced a gun and Mills began backing up before turning to run. Mills was shot multiple times in the back and died at the scene. There were no other injuries as a result of the shooting.
Mason was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on May 23, 2024, and charges were filed in June.
After the jury returned a guilty verdict, the state dismissed count 2, Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Mason agreed to a Life sentence and to waive his right to appeal.
DA Behenna extends her gratitude to the jurors for their time and thoughtful consideration during the trial, as well as the police who investigated this case and the prosecutors who prepared the case for trial. **Booking photo of Mario Mason is attached.
