FOR IMMEDIATE RELASE

August 28, 2025

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna announced today that a jury has convicted 32-year-old Brandon Morrissette of First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm on School Property in connection with the April 24, 2023, shooting death of 20-year-old Robenie “RJ” Long on the campus of Rose State College.morrissette_Brandon_...

Jurors returned guilty verdicts on both counts after hearing evidence that Morrissette shot Long seven times outside the Humanities building on campus. Long died at the scene. Morrissette was immediately taken into custody after the shooting.

The jury recommended a sentence of Life without the Possibility of Parole for the murder conviction and a one-year sentence for the firearm conviction. Formal sentencing is scheduled for October 14, 2025. Long’s mother, Kelly, expressed her gratitude to the jurors saying, “I am so thankful for the jury that we had. I was just praying for them as they were leaving to go deliberate. I think they made the right choices. I’m so thankful for our judicial system and thankful for our jurists.”

District Attorney Behenna praised the work of law enforcement officers from Midwest City Police Department, as well as the trial team, for their efforts in securing justice for Long and his family. She also expressed gratitude to the jurors for their time and thoughtful consideration of the facts of this case during the trial this week.
