Charges Upgraded to Murder 1 in OKC Mauling Death

08 Dec, 2025 | Return|

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 8, 2025

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office announced today that Darci Lambert, 24, and Jorden McGuire, 34, have been charged with First Degree Murder and two counts of animal cruelty in connection with the dog mauling death of their 2-year-old daughter at their home in northeast Oklahoma City.

“This is an unspeakably tragic case,” said Vicki Zemp Behenna, Oklahoma County District Attorney. “Lambert and McGuire’s complete disregard for the health, safety, and welfare of their child, and their failure to protect her despite knowing she was at risk, led to her death.

The incident occurred on November 18, 2025, when Oklahoma City police responded to a call regarding a child not breathing. Officers found the child deceased, having suffered horrific injuries consistent with an animal attack. During the response, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare removed four dogs from the residence; three were malnourished. Two bearded dragons were also removed.

Detectives allege that Lambert and McGuire maliciously failed to protect their child and permitted her to remain in the presence of a dangerous, malnourished dog, fully aware of the serious risk of harm. Evidence shows that the child had previously been attacked by the same dog, suffering serious injuries.Charges against the pair were upgraded to First Degree Murder after prosecutors reviewed the horrendous details of the case. The range of punishment on First Degree Murder is life or life without the possibility of parole. Both defendants remain in custody on a $1 million bond.

Criminal charges are based on probable cause to believe a person has committed a crime. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
