OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma County jury convicted Jacqueline Rodriguez, 30, on one count of Child Abuse and recommended a sentence of 23 years in prison.

Rodriguez and her boyfriend Brayan Camarillo Padierna were arrested by detectives after Rodriguez’s four-year-old daughter was admitted to OU Childrens Hospital with multiple injuries doctors said were consistent with child abuse. The victim was suffering from a lacerated spleen, collapsed lung, broken left elbow, torn frenulum, significant bruising across her back, as well as other bruising and swelling on her face, arms and legs. The four-year-old required emergency surgery and a chest tube. She was in the hospital for a week.

During a forensic interview, the child said she didn’t feel safe with her mom’s boyfriend because he is mean to her, hit her and hurt her arm. She told the forensic interviewer that her mom ‘did not love her that day.’ She also disclosed and demonstrated how her mother would hit her in the stomach.

“Testifying in court is difficult for anyone, but it is especially difficult for a six-year-old who is being asked to tell strangers about what her mom did to her,” said District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna.

“Despite not being able to testify to everything she previously told investigators, this little girl was incredibly brave. I am glad that she is now able to grow up in a safe and secure environment surrounded by love.”Camarillo Padierna plead guilty to one count of child abuse in December 2025. He was sentenced to 25 years with the first 15 to do in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections where he is currently incarcerated.

Rodriguez was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center where she will remain until formal sentencing set for October 15, 2026.

Serving on a jury in a case involving the abuse of a child is not an easy responsibility, particularly when jurors are asked to view difficult evidence and images of the child’s injuries. She also extends her appreciation to the detectives who investigated this case and to the prosecutors from the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) who prepared it for trial. Their work, and the jury’s willingness to carefully consider the evidence, made this verdict possible.
