OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna announced today that charges have been filed against Matthew Burleson and Cory Brown, who are accused of embezzling nearly $1.4 million from their former employer, Summit Technology Affiliates, LLC, in Edmond. 

At the request of the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) began investigating the allegations in October 2024.

During the investigation, agents determined that Burleson and Brown, who were in a personal relationship and lived together, used their positions within the company to work together to embezzle nearly $1.4 million.

Burleson served as the company’s president, while Brown worked in human resources.

According to the investigation, the two used their positions of trust to divert company funds for their personal benefit, including paying off personal credit cards, chartering private flights, purchasing luxury vehicles and making large purchases at Cartier and Louis Vuitton. Investigators also determined that they gave themselves pay raises without the knowledge or authorization of the company’s owners.

“We take financial crimes seriously, whether they involve the misuse of public funds or the theft of money from a private business,” said DA Behenna. “When people abuse a position of trust for personal gain, we will follow the money and hold them accountable.”Burleson and Brown turned themselves in to OSBI agents. Each is charged with one count of Embezzlement and one count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. Both have a $25,000 bond.
