SOCIAL SERVICES

Our Mission is to improve the health and stability of our residents by helping to meet the basic needs of lower income and older adults of Oklahoma County. We hope this website provides you with useful information, but if you need additional information, please send us an email, or call us at 405-713-1893.

Gatekeeper Program

The Gatekeeper Program connects older adults to the services they need, and works with 211 and people in the community to extend services to those in need but who aren't familiar with how to access services.  This is a non-emergency service.  Review the Gatekeeper Program of Oklahoma County.

Senior Services

The Social Services department operates the Gatekeeper ProgramOklahoma County has convened three Senior Summits and commissioned a statistical report on seniors in Oklahoma County, and is constantly doing research regarding the status and needs of seniors in this area. We also operate the Gatekeeper Program of Oklahoma County, working with a variety of organizations to provide a safety net for seniors.

Burial / Cremation

The Burial / Cremation Program is operated in cooperation with local area funeral homes and the Office of the Medical Examiner. The county provides services for persons who died in Oklahoma County and whose bodies are unclaimed, or for whom no funds are available. Referrals for this program must come from a funeral home in Oklahoma County or from the Office of the Medical Examiner. Due to budgetary constraints, cremations are provided in most cases. Burial services are provided only under certain extenuating circumstances.

Homeless Services

Social Services works with various agencies to provide assistance to people who are experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma County. We help connect people to services and our Housing Navigators work with the Homeless Alliance and the Journey Home Program, working to house the most vulnerable among this population.

Pharmacy Services

The Oklahoma County Pharmacy provides prescription medications free of charge to eligible low income residents of OKC and Oklahoma County. We strongly recommend that you call to make sure we carry the medication you need. We are not a full service pharmacy, and do not carry all medications. We do not carry narcotics.

Please call to see if we carry your medications, and to find out what documentation you will need to bring to see if you're eligible. You will need a new written prescription from the doctor; we cannot accept call-in prescriptions or refill bottles from other pharmacies. Applicants will complete an application form and be interviewed by an eligibility analyst to determine eligibility for services.
