Commissioner Carrie Blumert Nominates James Johnson, Jr. for Seat on Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority… BOCC Approves by 3-0 Vote

Oklahoma County – Today the Oklahoma County Board of County Commissioners appointed Rose State Professor James Johnson, Jr. to a seat on the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority.

District One Commissioner Carrie Blumert nominated Mr. Johnson for the position on the Authority. His appointment was confirmed by a 3-0 vote.

“I’m so excited that Professor Johnson agreed to serve. His experience in corrections, as well as his academic background, provide the Authority with another seasoned voice as they deliberate how best to operate the current jail, as well as prepare for the opening of the new jail,” said Blumert.

Johnson is a professor of criminal Justice and sociology at the Midwest City based college. He holds a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma and received his undergraduate degree from Cameron University in Lawton.

In addition to his teaching career, Johnson has served in a number public safety and corrections related positions.  Among those positions were several years at the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs.
