OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna announces four guilty verdicts in trial of Brayan Fernando Loza Chavez, who faced multiple drug charges. Loza Chavez, 25, was charged by the DA’s Office in April 2024 with the following counts:

  • Ct. #1: Aggravated Trafficking of Illegal Drugs – Methamphetamine
  • Ct. #2: Aggravated Trafficking of Illegal Drugs – Fentanyl
  • Ct. #3: Acquire proceeds from Drug Activitylozachavez
  • Ct. #4: Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Ct. #5: Trafficking of Illegal Drugs – Heroin

Yesterday, the jury returned guilty verdicts on counts 1 – 3 and 5. The charges stem from a 9-1-1 call that was placed on April 7, 2024. Oklahoma City Police Officers responded to the 200 block of SW 39th after the landlord of the property called police. The landlord was attempting to collect rent and when the tenant didn’t answer, the landlord forced his way in to check on the welfare of the tenant. Upon entering the apartment, the landlord found a box that appeared to contain drugs. The Street Narcotics Unit responded and confirmed the presence of Methamphetamine.

Detectives ultimately located 17.8 pounds of Methamphetamine, 236 grams of Fentanyl, 12.5 grams of Heroin, more than $5,000 in cash believed to be related to drug transactions and a loaded .22 caliber pistol. The landlord gave the police a description ofthe tenant’s vehicle and Loza Chavez was pulled over on a traffic stop near the apartment. Items belonging to Loza Chavez, including passports and IDs, were found during the search of the apartment. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on April 8, 2024.

The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) and a $50,000 fine for Count 1, 25 years in DOC and a $250,000 fine on Count 2, two years in DOC on Count 3, and five years in DOC and a $25,000 fine on Count 5. The Court set formal sentencing for May 16, 2025, at 9 a.m.

DA Behenna would like to thank the jury for their time and thoughtful consideration during the trial, as well as the police who investigated this case and the prosecutors who prepared the case for trial.
