OKLAHOMA CITY – As the top law enforcement officer in Oklahoma County, the District Attorney has a responsibility to raise concerns when proposed operational changes could negatively impact the efficient functioning of the criminal justice system.
DA Behenna appeared before the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority (the Jail Trust) this afternoon to express concerns about the abrupt transition of detainee transportation responsibilities without a fully developed implementation plan, adequate staffing, and proper training in place.
DA Behenna’s primary concern is ensuring the criminal justice system operates safely, efficiently, and without unnecessary disruption. She remains willing to work collaboratively with all partners to ensure any transition is handled responsibly and in the best interest of Oklahoma County.
